ns3 has developed equipment and technology based on their proven technological approach to produce commercial products based
on high rate, low cost plasma coatings on polymeric substrates (including containers), silicon wafers as well as metals, glass
and ceramic surfaces. ns3 works with its corporate partners to develop and commercialize each technology.
Currently There are several products based on existing, allowed and pending US Patents:
INTERIOR PLASMA COATED BOTTLES:
ns3 has 2 allowed (US Patent #6,112,695 and US Patent #6,180,191) and several pending US Patents that cover the apparatus
and process of coating the inside of plastic bottles with SiOx coatings to increase their resistance to oxygen and water vapor.
The deposited thin film material is covered by a non-objection letter from the FDA for direct food contact. Currently licenses
are available. ns3 operates several pilot-scale single cell bottle coaters that can demonstrate the coating performance.
VERY LOW k (VLK) Dielectric Thin Film for Semiconductor Applications:
ns3 has been granted 1 (US Patent #6,068,884) patent and two pending US Patent's that covers the apparatus, process and
material of SiOCH as it relates to semiconductor applications for interlayer metal dielectric (ILD) applications. Dielectric
constants below 2.5 have been demonstrated. The technology is currently NOT available for license.
NANOMATRIX THIN FILMS:
ns3 has been issued several US Patents (#6,015,595,; 6,177,142; 6,180,185; and 6,539,890) for a novel deposition process
apparatus that allows a material (metal, polymer or dielectric) to be doped into a silicon dioxide matrix. The apparatus
allows attributes of the dopant to be imparted to the silicon dioxide structure. For example thin films were deposited with
PTFE doped into SiOx. The resulting structure gave a contact angle of 106 degrees to water but had the structural properties
of silicon dioxide. This technology is currently available for license.
SiOx COATED PLASTIC WELL PLATES FOR BIOSCIENCE APPLICATIONS:
ns3 developed a SiOx coating process for application on well plates based on their core patented technologies. The product
is currently available through National Scientific (www.sun-intl.com) a subsidiary of Thermo Fisher Scientific.
